Shakespeare in Pain

based on Shakespeare's Sonnet 18

Shall I compare thee to a winter’s night?
Thou art as cool and just as volatile.
Harsh winds that often sting and bite
And make me tingle all the while.

Upon the layer of nocturnal snow,
Contrasted beauty of black and white,
Radiance that causes the sky to glow
As wondrous as the Northern Light.

But as the season can change and tease,
Thy moods are always strongly felt.
The touch that makes my member freeze,
Can also cause my heart to melt.

While others prefer when all is right
I long for nature’s cruel delight.

A sonnet is a fourteen-line poem in iambic pentameter with a carefully patterned rhyme scheme.  The English or Shakespearean sonnet consists of three quatrains and a couplet--that is, it rhymes abab cdcd efef gg.
